Close a TANF Case in Advance

Use this procedure to close an existing TANF case up to one month in advance.

Process Steps:

  1. From the Left Navigation menu, select Data Collection, then select Case Action.

  2. Enter the Case or Application or Screening Number or click the search icon and proceed to Search for a Client to search for the case.

  3. Select Case Change / Closure from the What action do you want to perform? dropdown menu.

  4. Select Yes from the Do you wish to continue? dropdown menu.

  5. From the Left Navigation menu, select Individual Information, then select Other In State Benefits.

  6. Click the edit icon for the TANF record.

  7. Update the Effective Begin Date to the day after the TANF will be ending.

  8. Select Terminated from the Status dropdown menu.

  9. Click Save + Continue.

  10. Proceed to Run Eligibility.

 

If it is a converted TANF case:

  1. From the Left Navigation menu, select Data Collection, then select Case Action.

  2. Enter the Case or Application or Screening Number or click the search icon and proceed to Search for a Client to search for the case.

  3. Select Case Change from the What action do you want to perform? dropdown menu.

  4. Select Yes from the Do you wish to continue? dropdown menu.

  1. From the Left Navigation menu, select Individual Information, then select Other In State Benefits.

  2. Click Add Other In State Benefits to add the original TANF record.

  1. Click Save + Previous.

  2. Click the edit icon for the TANF record.

  3. Update the Effective Begin Date to the day after the TANF benefits end.

  4. Select Terminated for the Status field.

  5. Click Save + Continue.

  6. Proceed to Run Eligibility.

Results of the Procedure:

The VaCMS will close the TANF case on the effective begin date of the terminated TANF record.
