Use this procedure to confirm whether an address is valid and matches a locality.
The Get Locality button is clicked on an address page.
The Matching Address Results pop-up window displays.

The Matching Address Results pop-up window displays addresses that potentially match the criteria entered on the address page and the locality of the address displayed. The following address components are what are used to determine a matching address and locality: street name, street number, post direction, address line 2, city, state, and zip code. |
Review the potential matching addresses.
If there is a matching address:
Select the appropriate address radio button.
Click Populate Locality.
The Matching Address Results pop-up window closes and the original address page is displayed with the Locality field pre-filled.
If there are no matching addresses:
Click Cancel.
The Matching Address Results pop-up window closes and the original address page is displayed with an enabled Locality dropdown menu.
Select the appropriate Locality from the dropdown menu.
If there is a matching address and no FIPS assigned to the address:
Select the appropriate address radio button.
Click Populate FIPS.
The Matching Address Results pop-up window closes and the original address page is displayed with an enabled Locality dropdown menu.
Select the appropriate Locality from the dropdown menu.
The locality lookup for an address is complete.
