TANF Emergency Assistance Details

Use this process to enter emergency assistance for TANF.

Process Steps

 

The TANF Emergency Assistance – Details page displays

 

1.    In the Emergency Assistance section:

·         Enter the Emergency Assistance Request Date (required).

·   Select the answer to What is your reason for requesting Emergency Assistance from the dropdown menu. This is a required field.

·  Enter the Date Natural Disaster/Emergency Occurred (required).

·  Select the answer to Have you been hospitalized from the dropdown menu (required).

·         Describe your emergency need in the comments box. (required).

·         Enter the What is the approximate cost of the emergency need (required).

·         Select Yes or NO from Does the Client have a lease and unlawful detainer? From the dropdown menu.  This is a required field if Eviction Prevention is selected as the reason for requesting Emergency Assistance

·         Enter the Court Date:  required field if Eviction Prevention is selected as the reason for requesting Emergency Assistance.

2.     In the Resources available that could meet the emergency need section:

·         Enter the Community Agency Name.

·         Enter the Amount received from Community Agencies (required).

·         Enter the amount of Cash On Hand (required).*

·         Enter amount of Money In Bank Accounts (required).*

·         Enter the Amount available from other sources (required).

·         Enter any Additional Information about other resources.

3. In the Worker Worksheet section:

·         Answer if All members for whom assistance will be provided are citizens or eligible aliens by selecting Yes or No from the dropdown menu (required).

·         Answer if All members for whom assistance will be provided are Virginia Residents by selecting Yes or No from the dropdown menu (required).

·         Answer if The assistance unit includes at least one minor child by selecting Yes or No from the dropdown menu (required).

·         Answer if The minor child/children in the assistance unit or filing unit meet school attendance requirements, if applicable by selecting Yes or No from the dropdown menu (required).

·         Answer if The minor child/children in the assistance unit or filing unit are living with a parent or relative by selecting Yes or No from the dropdown menu (required).

·         Answer if Income of the assistance unit does not exceed maximum income limit for TANF by selecting Yes or No from the dropdown menu. (required).

·         Answer if All members are categorically eligible for TANF by selecting Yes or No from the dropdown menu (required).

 

4.     Click Save + Continue

 

Results of the Procedure

 

*VaCMS does not look at Resources for EA or TANF.  $0 must be entered since resources are not countable for TANF EA.
