Use this procedure to search for an existing authorization and initiate a new authorization for children determined eligible to receive services or be placed on the waiting list. This procedure is also used to select an existing authorization to edit or approve.

The VaCMS does not automatically queue the authorization driver flow after eligibility results are certified for a case. Navigate to Maintain Authorization under the Authorization Management link in the Left Navigation menu to begin the authorization process. |
To search for an existing authorization or eligible children:
From the Left Navigation menu, select Authorization Management, then select Maintain Authorization, then Authorization Search.
The Authorization Search page displays.
In the Authorization Search section:

Each authorization search must contain at least the Vendor ID, Case # or Locality in the search criteria. Enter information in some or all of the fields to decrease or expand the search range as appropriate. The more criteria entered the more specific the search results will be. |
Enter the appropriate Vendor ID to search by vendor or click the search icon, enter search criteria, and select the appropriate identification number to display the children authorized to receive services from the vendor.
Enter the Case # to search by case or click the search icon, enter search criteria, and select the appropriate identification number to display search results for the case.
Select an Authorization Status from the dropdown menu to narrow the search results to include a specific authorization status.
Enter the Effective Begin Date to search for authorizations effective after a specific date. Enter the date or click the Calendar icon and select a date.
Select a Locality to narrow the search results within a specific FIPS code.
Enter the Authorization ID to search by authorization.
Select a Funding Program to narrow the search results to include a specific funding program.
Click Search.
Search results display in the Authorization Search Results section.
The worker has successfully completed the authorization search.
