Retroactive MA Coverage

In Virginia, clients have the ability to apply for up to three months of retroactive MA coverage. The steps for adding retroactive coverage are outlined below.

Please note: Retroactive coverage must be selected during Application Registration or My Workspace. It cannot be added after initiating the case action and beginning Data Collection. Answering “Yes” to the Prior Medical Coverage question in Data Collection does not enable retro coverage.

Be sure to read the application carefully to determine if the client has requested retroactive coverage. Any individual that answers “Yes” to the Medical Expenses question on the Client Demographics page is requesting retroactive coverage.

1. On the Register Program screen in Application Registration or My Workspace, select the appropriate checkboxes to choose the programs for which the client is applying (MA or Child Care).

2. If the client requires retroactive MA coverage, select the Retroactive Coverage for 3 months checkbox.

3. Click Save + Continue.
