About
With Medical Assistance (MA) applications and cases, workers must request verification documents if the Federal Hub cannot verify an individual’s SSN. This QRG helps to identify valid verification documents and shows workers where they can enter these verification documents in the VaCMS.
Certain EDGs may receive a Pending eligibility result and a Verification Checklist (VCL) may be generated if SSN is not verified for all applicants in a case when eligibility is run. The VCL can be viewed by clicking the glasses icon on the Wrap-up – Eligibility Summary screen, or by clicking Miscellaneous in the left navigation, then clicking Verification Checklist.
Follow the steps below to enter SSN verifications when they are submitted by the client.
Please note: entering valid verifications does not guarantee an Approved result.
How to Enter SSN Verification Source Information
SSN verification source information can be entered by following the process below:
From the Left Navigation menu, click Data Collection, then click Individual Information.
Click Client.
Select an option from the Verification Source dropdown menu.
SSN Verification Values That Will Not Generate an SSN VCL
The following list contains Verification Source field values that, if selected, ensure that the individual will not receive a Pending result for SSN when eligibility is run. No additional verifications are required.
For example, choosing “Social Security Card” from the Verification Source dropdown menu will never trigger a Verification Checklist (VCL) for SSN.

SSN Application Verification
Some clients may not have a social security number at the time they apply for benefits. If an individual has applied for an SSN but has not yet received one, the worker will have to select a SSN Application Verification option on the Client Demographics screen. The VaCMS will generate a SSN Application VCL for individuals if workers select any of the values below:

How to Enter SSN Application Verification Information
SSN Application Verification information can be entered by following the process below:
From the Left Navigation menu, click Data Collection, then click Individual Information.
Click Client Demographics. Enter the necessary information on the Client Demographics page.
Click Save + Continue or the SSN Application tab.
The Client- SSN Application page displays.
Enter a SSN Application Date.
Select an option from the SSN Application Verification dropdown menu.
