Case Banking

About

In the VaCMS, each case is assigned a primary worker and two secondary workers. This manner of assigning three workers to every case is called case banking.

Case banking helps prevent work bottlenecks.

If the primary worker is unavailable to perform a time-sensitive task, either of the two secondary workers can step in to assist.

Process Overview

During the registration process, the staff member who is registering the case assigns it either to himself / herself or to another worker.

Next, a worker with security profiles clicks the Maintain LDSS Resources link in the Left Navigation menu, chooses Search / Maintain Profile, and then chooses Case / Application Assignment to assign the case to secondary workers. This worker can also change the primary worker assignment.

All workers in the primary worker’s unit can work on the case. Workers in other units cannot work on the case unless they are the assigned secondary worker.

For illustrative purposes, two common case banking scenarios are shown below.
