Verification Due Dates in the VaCMS

About

After you run eligibility in the VaCMS, the Wrap-up - Eligibility Summary page displays the eligibility results. Sometimes you may see eligibility determination results marked as “Pending.” This means that verifications are required from the customer to satisfy requirements for eligibility determination.

When you see pending results, you must generate a Verification Checklist (VCL) and send it to the customer so he / she has the opportunity to provide the verifications necessary to complete the eligibility determination. The VCL includes the verification due dates. If the customer returns the verifications, you must update the Verification Received on date field and the field verification code, then re-run eligibility. If the customer returns the verifications, but does so after the due date, when you update the case with the verification source and verification received dates and run eligibility, the program(s) requested will be denied. If a verification is received by the verification due date, workers can verify the necessary items and certify eligibility results after the verification due date without the system automatically denying the application. Workers can also extend the verification due date if necessary.

Each verification type has a set number of days allowed for receipt. It is important to note that the number of days allowed is dependent on the verification type. This guide shows the number of days that the VaCMS allows for each verification type.
Note: If application is pending verification for citizenship only, eligibility results can be certified as approved or denied. If an application is pending verification for anything other than citizenship (for example, identity), results will remain pending and cannot be certified until verification is received. A denial reason of "Failure to provide citizenship verification within the specified time frame" will be used if citizenship verification is not received by the verification due date.
